Terms of Use
Last updated: 13 August 2026
By using Koshio you accept these terms. We kept them short; all of it matters.
Safety first. Koshio encourages you to run outdoors. Watch your surroundings: traffic, pedestrians, the ground and the weather. Slow down or stop if you need to look at your phone. Don't enter dangerous places to claim territory, don't take risks in dark or deserted areas, and don't break traffic rules. No territory is worth it.
If you have any health concerns, talk to your doctor before you start running. Koshio is not a medical app; the distance, speed and calorie figures it shows are estimates, not clinical measurements.
1. Your account
- You need a valid email address to sign up; keeping your password safe is on you.
- You may not transfer or sell your account.
- Your username is visible to others. Names containing profanity, hate speech or harassment, or impersonating Koshio staff, are blocked.
- You may not use Koshio if you are under 13.
2. Fair play
Koshio has one rule: territory is taken by running. The following are not allowed:
- Claiming ground using a car, bicycle, motorcycle or any other vehicle
- Using fake location (GPS spoofing) apps
- Modifying or reverse-engineering the app, or sending fabricated data to the server
- Using multiple accounts to give yourself an advantage
Every run is checked on the server: speed, distance, duration and — where available — step count are compared. Suspicious runs claim nothing. These checks can occasionally reject an honest run too, for example when GPS reception is poor. If that happens, write to us.
3. Suspension
If you break the rules above we may invalidate your runs, remove your territories or close your account. For less serious cases we'll try to warn you first, but we're not obliged to.
4. Game content and changes
Territories, XP, rankings and badges are part of a game; they have no real-world value, ownership or cash equivalent. We may change the rules, scoring and features as the game develops. "Winning" an area on the map gives you no rights over that place in the real world.
5. Availability
Koshio is provided as is. We can't guarantee it will run without interruption, be free of bugs, or stay available forever. If we have to shut the service down, we'll try to give notice.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, accidents, device damage, data loss or indirect damages arising from your use of Koshio. The decisions you make while running are yours.
This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as intent or gross negligence.
7. Closing your account
You can leave whenever you want: Settings → freeze account (reversible) or delete account (permanent). What happens to your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes and contact
If we update these terms we'll change the date at the top. Questions go to info@koshio.app.
